Entrevistamos a H101, artista madrileño con un estilo en las potas bastante peculiar pero que ha ido evolucionando su técnica y estilo con el tiempo, actualmente reside en Barcelona y su obra hoy en día se encuentra repleta de colores planos que tienden a ocupar toda la superficie en la que este trabajando, también muestra códigos ocultos, simetrías, asimetrías y simbología illuminati.

This week we bring you the interview with H101. An Artist from Madrid with a very peculiar style in the throwups that has developed his technique over the years.
He lives in Barcelona at the moment and nowadays his work is full of flat colors which tend to occupy the whole surface that he’s working on.
His Work also displays hidden codes, symmetry, asymetry and illuminati symbology .

-Cuál fue para ti cual fue la época dorada del graffiti en tu ciudad?
-La vivida por mi desde el dos mil seis hasta que abandoné mi ciudad en el dos mil ocho. La verdad es que fue una locura, en el sentido de todo lo que pasaba en el centro, que cada día pasaba algo, no se, supongo que eso era lo que nos enganchaba… Para mi eso fue lo mejor, conocer amigos y mucha gente, y aprender…aprender mucho.

– Which one is , for you, the Golden age of the Graffiti in your City?
– The one I experienced from 2006 until I left Madrid in 2008. To tell you the truth it was pretty crazy back then about all what was going on in the city center. Every night and day something different happened. I dont know, I guess that is exactly what kept us hooked. For me the best part was meeting friends and a lot of new people. And learn….. learn a lot.

-A raíz de las últimas detenciones, ¿crees que realmente hay manera de pararle los pies a un auténtico escritor?
Yo creo que es un rollo de desviar un poco la atención mediaticamente, se dedican a detener a un pavo que pinta metro, no se, supongo que tal y cómo van las cosas en la sociedad, el que de repente te hayan bombardeado con una noticia que realmente… es una gilipollez, hace que desvíen la atención sabes, ¿a quién cojones le importa que hayan pintado mil metros? me refiero que si tu no lo entiendes no lo ves como algo importante, ¿no? el pintar metros.
No entiendo que le den tanto bombo a una noticia que no tiene tanta importancia en el sentido que, coño, mira qué es lo que está pasando de verdad.
Tal y como estamos, cuanto mas te prohiban algo más lo vas a hacer, no lo hará todo el mundo, pero al final va a haber gente que va a pintar siempre, es algo natural.

– Following the las detentions, do you think there’s a way to stop a real writer?
– I think that´s the way they media have to make you look in other direction. Who the fucks care if someone is panting in the subway or not?. I mean, if you don’t know about these things, you simply don’t care. And there’s more important problems out there we should care about. See what’s going on, what is really happening. The more they ban something, the more you do it. So there will always be people who paint. It’s natural.

-¿Qué preferirías pintar, un avión o un submarino?
-Si te digo la verdad, me molaría un submarino porque aviones ya he visto pintados y ya pierde un poco la gracia pero un submarino yo creo que no se lo ha pintado nadie.

-What would you rather paint first, an aeroplane or a submarine?
– A Submarine. I’ve seen planes painted so its nothing new. But I reckon nobody has painted a submarine.

-¿Echas de menos algún bote o rotu en particular?
-Pues ahora mismo si, echo de menos el titán, los botes titán, ¡los botes titán gratis! Esos eran los que más se disfrutaban, pero bueno, es simplemente por nostalgia

Do you miss any marker or can in particular?
– I do right now, yes. I miss the titan spraycan. The free titan spraycan!. The ones I had most fun with. Only nostalgia anyway.

-¿Arte & creatividad o muerte & destrucción?
-Todo tiene su momento, por supuesto que muerte y destrucción siempre es lo favorito porque… porque mola ,qué quieres que te diga y para eso estamos aquí. Pero también arte y creatividad por supuesto, porque también tiene su parte bonita y no te lo digo en plan de «áy, que soy super artista!». Pienso que no se puede elegir porque depende del momento, te va a apetecer más una cosa tranquila, un curro… Aunque ahora mismo ando más en arte y creatividad más que nada porque a través del arte y la creatividad se pueden llegar a cambiar cosas.

-Art & Creativity or Death & Destruction?
-Everything has the right moment. Death and destruction is always the favourite ofcourse. Why?, because it’s cool and that’s it. What do you want me to say?. And that’s why we are here. But Art & Creativity also has its moment. Sometimes you fell like something different , more chill out, working on something. Right now I’m more into Art & Creativity because through art and creativity you can get to change things.

-¿Qué le dirías a tu yo del pasado si pudieras mandarle un mensaje el primer sida que pintaste?
-Buah… no se… como todo lo que me a pasado a mi en referente al graffiti ha sido bueno… Porque las partes malas incluso puedes decir que son buenas, porque te enseñan cosas que a lo mejor no debes hacer. Pero supongo que le diría que disfrute.

What would you say to your past self if you could send him a messaje to the day you first painted?
– Wow, I dont know man. Everything that happend to me related to the graffity was good, because even the worst parts are good cause you learn from them so….. I guess I’d say enjoy.

-Drogas y graffiti, ¿amigas o enemigas?
-Depende, es como las relaciones de pareja ¿no? llega un momento que dices; «ostia, si no hubiera ido borracho, si no hubiera ido de X manera.. no hubiera hecho esto». Está claro que luego tambien por culpa de las drogas pues no haces otras cosas que si no te hubieras drogado, habrías hecho. Supongo que es un poco amor odio, pero vamos, también te digo que cuanto más lejos mejor.

– Drugs and Graffiti, friends or enemies?
– It depends. It’s like relationships, isn’t it?. There is a time when you say ; “fuck! If I wouldn’t have been drunk or whatever…. I would have never done that”. It’s also very clear that when you are on drugs, you dont do things you would have done if you were not on drugs. Which is not good. It’s something like love-hate. But anyway the farther the better.

-Una canción para ponerte en el mp3 según tus pies pisan la acera en una soleada noche de fin de semana…
-Depende de lo que vaya a hacer, a veces no escucho música, otras a lo mejor me pongo… desde Venetian Snares hasta Discharge.

What song do you play on the mp3/ipod the moment you step on the street for the weekend?
– Depends on what Im doing. Sometimes I dont listen to anything. But some other times I play plenty…… from Venetian Snares to Discharge.

-¿Cuándo fue la primera vez que dijiste «no vuelvo a pagar x esta mierda»?
-Pues creo que lo dije hace tanto que ni me acuerdo la verdad (risas) pero yo que se, por ejemplo con el precio de los botes es que el mercado es así, o sigues comprando o ya sabes lo que tienes que hacer, aunque siempre puedes pintar mas con plástica… Y con las multas la historia de no pagar yo que se, no me considero un delincuente ni que esté haciendo nada del otro mundo, aunque a todos nos llegará, el día de mañana si tengo algo ya me lo quitaran, también es tener cuidado y no hacer lo que no tienes que hacer, pero estamos enganchados. ¿Tu no te levantas para pintar? pues ya esta es que nos levantamos para eso.. cada uno se levanta para una cosa, es lo que nos mola a nosotros, a otros les mola leer libros o ir al cine…

– When was the first time you said.. “I’m not paying for this shit anymore” ?
– Probably so long ago I can’t even remember… .(laughs). With the high prices , it’s a bummer but thats how the market is. You keep buying or you know already what you have to do. You can always use plastic paint aswell. And all about not paying the fines… I don’t know… I dont see myself as a criminal but I guess that we’ll all have our day when its time to pay. You have to be very careful and don’t do what you shouldn’t but…. we are hooked and there’s nothing to do.

-¿Tienes algún fetiche o manía a la hora de pintar?
-Así a bote pronto…no. No soy de los de cagar como otros.

Do you have any fetish or mania when your painting?
– None that I know of. I’m not the shitting kind… like others.

-Coleccionas algún tipo de objeto relacionado con el graffiti?
-Pues pegatinas de la peña, cosas relacionadas con graffiti, pegatinas de grupos… no se. Antes coleccionaba botes pero luego ya los perdí todos por ahí.

– Do you collect any kind of thing related to the graffiti world?
– Stickers from other writers, crews… I use to collect cans but I’ve lost them all in the way.

-¿Has incrementado tu cantidad de afairs gracias al graffiti?
– (risas) Pues no mucho la verdad, eso de que eres artista y follas yo pienso que eso no se lo cree nadie… aunque haya «come-de todo» en general, ya me entiendes.

– Have you increase your number of romances thanks to the graffiti?
– Not much to be honest. They say that for being an artist you fuck more, well, it’s bullshit. Though there are always suckers. … if you know what I mean.

-¿Algo que añadir?
-Viva la cultura diversiva y destructiva»

-Long live to the diversionary and destructive culture!
